Motorhomes, like cars, are produced by many different manufacturers from across the world. Motorhome manufacturers have a predominantly local market and subsequently the European motorhoming market is saturated by European motorhome manufacturers. There are many different brands of European motorhome, each with its own distinguishing features and market. The UK is home to Elddis; the company has been in the motorhome industry since 1964 and today specialises in entry-level motorhomes that are both functional and affordable. All Elddis motorhomes are approved by the NCC (National Caravan Council), a necessary badge of quality in the UK. Another UK motorhome manufacturer is IH, a small company that concentrates on bespoke campervans and motorhomes. IH is based in Yorkshire and produces a limited number of motorhomes each year, making them highly desirable. There is also a strong market for second-hand IH motorhomes.
The Swift Group is a large motorhome group that manufacturers several motorhome brands, including Swift, Bessacarr, Mondial, Autocruise and Escape. There is also a Swift-branded line of models and the overarching brand was established in 1965, with motorhome production beginning in 1986. Burstner is a popular German motorhome manufacturer and the company has been running since 1924. Burstner is now part of the Hymer Group. Hymer is a high-end motorhome manufacturer operating from Germany and exporting motorhomes across Europe. The brand has become associated with quality, style and efficiency. Hymer has expanded its brand by purchasing not only Burstner but also Niesmann + Bischoff. Niesmann + Bischoff also has a reputation for being a high-end and luxury motorhome manufacturer that provides a range of specialised and expensive models for the top end of the motorhome market. The company also has their own motorhome rental service that offers customers the opportunity to try before they buy.
Italy also has a successful supply of motorhome manufacturers. Elnagh is part of the SEA Group and was founded in Milan. The iconic snake logo of the Elnagh brand is modelled on the coat of arms belonging to Milan. In keeping with the ideology of Milan, Elnagh motorhomes are stylish, sleek and at the cutting edge of design and innovation. Rimor is another popular Italian motorhome manufacturer and was established in 1978. Based in Tuscany, Rimor produces both high-priced and affordable motorhomes for the European market. CI is another Italian motorhome manufacturer and is the largest in its home country. CI stands for Caravans International, and was established in 1976. Today, CI is part of the Trigano group of motorhomes. CI is also based in Tuscany and new CI motorhomes are popular due to their functionality and affordable pricing structure. The Cusona and Carioca ranges are the most popular of the CI portfolio.
