Anaesthesia Heritage Centre

The Association of Anaesthetists of Great Britain & Ireland (AAGBI) has brought its museum, library and archives together to form the Anaesthesia Heritage Centre. This includes the history of the use and discovery of anaesthesia. There is additional information about the Centre’s Museum and Library as well as detailed description of its archival holdings.

Ancient High House Stafford

The Ancient High House is one of the finest Tudor buildings in the United Kingdom. It is the largest remaining timber framed town house in England.

In 1642 the then King Charles I stayed there en route to Shrewsbury, and the house retains an extensive collection of period furniture and architectural features. It is also the home of the Staffordshire Yeomanry Museum.

Aikwood Tower, Byres of Aikwood Trust

The lands of Aikwood were granted, in 1517, on behalf of the infant King James V, to Maister Michael Scott, namesake of the thirteenth century scholar on whom the legends of wizardry are founded. Previously, Aikwood has been one of the forest steadings in the Royal Forest of Ettrick: the outright grant may indicate that Michael Scott had performed some special service.
